Gütschhöhe in Lucerne: The handle of excellence in a very special building

The Gütschhöhe residential complex towering above Lucerne is special in many respects. It is not only located next to the well-known luxury hotel Gütsch, but also has a rather unusual concept for a location like this. In the cooperative building, there are only rented apartments at particularly low rental rates. The building is owned by GFA, a non-profit housing cooperative based in Lucerne. In 2007, it announced a competition for architects, which led to the decision to establish a new building based on a design by MMJS Jauch-Stolz Architekten AG. This included an almost 200-metre-long and 30-metre-wide building with multiple angles containing 56 apartments on the wooded hillside.

In 2012, the building complex was completed with the striking, naturally greyed wood cladding. All apartments have been designed to benefit from both the sun and the breathtaking view over the city and Lake Lucerne. The top floor – with communal rooms and large roof terraces – is available for all residents to share. Green spaces around the building are also accessible to everyone, there are no separate, private gardens.

The interior fittings of the apartments at Gütschhöhe are modern and of high-quality: floor coverings in oak parquet, generously designed bathrooms and tasteful surfaces create a very special ambience and help residents feel extremely at home. A small but fine detail also plays a role here: HOPPE’s handle of excellence on the doors and windows! Our Amsterdam and Stockholm stainless steel models in traditional and cranked L-shape and with a matt finish fit seamlessly into the attractive design of the Gütschhöhe residential complex. And, as a large number of families live here, the handle of excellence will also be able to demonstrate its robustness and durability over a long period of time – in children’s bedrooms as well as in communal rooms.
