eHandle ConnectSense – Keeping an eye on the window

  • The eHandle ConnectSense from HOPPE offers extensive functions for monitoring windows in smart homes.
  • Break-in attempts are reliably detected and deterrent measures can be triggered immediately.
  • Constant matching of handle and window position enables reliable (remote) monitoring of window conditions in smart homes.

Window monitoring
The eHandle ConnectSense reliably detects break-in attempts through a window in a smart home – and reports it to the smart home control centre. Both the position of the handle (closed, tilted, open) and the position of the window itself (closed, open) are detected and reported.

Integrated into a smart home system, the eHandle ConnectSense offers numerous features for monitoring a building’s window situation – and with the proper system configuration, possibly even from afar via smartphone messaging.

Detects break-in attempts on the window
A specially developed algorithm can distinguish between an actual break-in attempt (e.g. by prying open the window) and accidental shock (e.g. caused by children playing with balls).

As soon as the handle detects an attempted break-in, deterrent measures can be triggered via the smart home control centre. These actions can be individually configured by the user in the smart home system and can include, for example, lowering the shutters, switching on the lights, an alarm siren or sending a break-in message to the residents via smartphone.

More convenience for Smart Homes
Beside the break-in detection feature, users can define scenarios that ensure greater energy efficiency and convenience.

The constant matching of handle and window position ensures that the system precisely determines whether a window is actually opened or whether only the handle is in the open position without the window having been moved.

For example, the heating or air conditioning system can be set so that it automatically shuts down when users are ventilating. Or the roller shutters may only close automatically when the patio door is closed. Further scenarios are possible – depending on the setup of the smart home system and the preferences of the resident.

Highly reliable transmission thanks to standard radio protocol Z-Wave Plus
The eHandle ConnectSense uses the standard radio protocol Z-Wave Plus. It is therefore equipped with the current “S2” security standard and establishes encrypted communication in combination with a Z-Wave Plus smart home control centre. The handle is downward-compatible and can therefore also be integrated into existing Z-Wave networks.
The eHandle ConnectSense for windows can be operated in any Z-Wave network with other certified Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers. Many Z-Wave devices can act as repeaters, increasing the reliability and range of the network.
In order to ensure that the signal is transmitted at all times, the eHandle ConnectSense for windows sends a signal when the handle is operated, when an attempted break-in is detected and also at regular intervals (e.g. every hour). The radio signal is transmitted until the smart home control centre confirms receipt.
The power supply is low maintenance via a battery with a service life of approximately two years.

Timeless design
Battery and circuit board are concealed inside the high-quality stainless steel handle. A plastic end cap ensures the unimpeded transmission of the wireless signal.
The eHandle ConnectSense for windows is available in the popular mitred shape of the Amsterdam series. In addition to the classic colours satin stainless steel (F69) and traffic white (F9016), it is also available in the contemporary colour matt black (F9714M).

Also available with proven break-in protection
Models with keyed locking rosette in combination with the appropriate window profile meet the requirements of European standards DIN EN 1627–1630 (resistance classes RC 1–6) and thus offer proven burglary protection in addition to break-in detection.
