National Home Security Month: SecuForte® offers a new standard of burglary resistance

HOPPE (UK) is supporting National Home Security Month (NHSM) 2021, an annual campaign that runs throughout October to help raise awareness about the importance of home security.

While the latest crime data from the ONS show patterns of crime in the year ending March 2021 have been significantly affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and government instructions to limit social contact with a 33% decrease in domestic burglary, however there were still 440,000 offences.

HOPPE’s SecuForte® range of window handles offers a completely new standard of burglary resistance in the UK for turn/tilt style windows.

The SecuForte® window handles work differently to standard handles, but their operation is just as easy. When the window is closed or tilted, the handle and the square spindle are not connected, and the handle is automatically locked.

To open the window, the handle must be pushed in towards the window, much like the ‘push to turn’ mechanism of opening a child-proof medicine bottle. This releases the locking mechanism and then the handle can be turned as usual.

This is a unique concept in the UK. As long as the handle is disconnected from the square spindle, it is virtually impossible to operate the handle from outside. SecuForte® also protects against common break-in methods of piercing the glass seal or drilling the frame in order to be able to turn the window handle from outside.

Andy Matthews, head of sales at HOPPE (UK), said:
“It is well known that in the UK burglars tend to target windows as they generally offer easier access than doors. But going around and individually locking each window before we leave a building is a time consuming and easily forgotten job.

“In larger buildings such as schools, hospitals, student accommodation and care homes, we usually want to be able to close a window and walk away. These new window handles have proved to be enormously successful and popular in Europe and Asia. HOPPE has brought this innovation to the UK to transform the confidence we can have in window security.”

Patented Variofit® technology also allows for easy adjustments to be made to the length of the spindle to fit different window profile sizes and materials.

SecuForte® window handles are available in HOPPE’s Austin, Hamburg and Toulon series, and are also available with cylinder locking if an additional level of internal security is required.
