An EPD declares the environmental impact of a construction product over its life cycle – from raw material to ready-to-install product. The products are evaluated on the basis of the life cycle assessments, which show various environmental influences. The European standards EN 15804 and ISO 14025 define the basic rules for environmental product declarations of construction products. EPDs created in accordance with these standards can be used to further calculate the environmental performance of entire buildings.
