Panic and Emergency Exit Hardware
Panic and emergency exit products play a crucial role in the evacuation of public buildings such as schools, hospitals and offices. Specifiers must source reliable, robust hardware that will help people leave a building quickly and safely.Keeping People Safe in an Emergency
Emergency exit hardware is mainly used in buildings where users are familiar with exit routes, such as private premises including offices and warehouses, and are not accessible to the public.
Panic hardware is used in buildings where members of the public have access to the building but may not be familiar with the exit routes, such as hotels, hospitals, stadiums and cinemas. This also applies to any building that has more than 60 people in it.
The ARRONE panic and emergency exit hardware range include:
- Panic latches
- Panic bolts
- Double rebated combination units
- Push pads
- Outside access devices (OADs)
Testing and Third-Party Certification
All ARRONE panic and emergency hardware carry Certifire approval. This is an independent third-party certification scheme that assures performance, quality and traceability of products and systems.
It has also been fully tested and certified to the latest European standards – EN 179 for emergency exit devices and BS EN 1125 for panic exit devices – and satisfies the UK construction product regulations for ironmongery.
Outside Access Devices
There is an ongoing need for panic and emergency exit doors on commercial buildings to also be accessible from the outside. For this, an Outside Access Device (OAD) is used. It can be locked to maintain the security of the building.
In many cases, doors that are part of the emergency exit route could also be used as entrances into a building, but the hardware requirements are different for such uses. The ARRONE lever-operated, outside access devices AR885L and AR886L are designed to overcome these issues and make use of existing doors to improve the access into the building.
